The Louis Vuitton brand and logo has a rich history to it. But what about the monogram makes it so unique? The famous L and V was designed by Louis Vuitton’s son, Georges Vuitton, in 1896. The catch is Louis Vuitton didn’t set out to be a luxury company but with a simple goal of creating great luggage. The end goal of the monogram was to make the brand recognizable and it went far beyond that.
Recently Virgil Abloh will become the latest designer to reinterpret Vuitton’s 122-year-old logo. However, Abloh wasn’t the only one to touch the logo. Marc Jacobs decided to rework the logo in 1997 to a graffiti style logo. This wasn’t the last time as he continued to rework the monogram into collections several more times. Even with tweaks and adjustments the hand drawn logo is the epitome of a strong brand and will forever remain in the luxury market.
For the brand 100th anniversary Louis Vuitton asked 6 designers to create pieces of luggage to celebrate the beloved monogram. From Karl Lagerfeld, Isaac Mizrahi to Vivienne Westwood they reimagined the iconic monogram that made Louis Vuitton what it is today to their own personal interpretation of what it meant to them. This collaboration of artists created pieces that celebrated the emblematic brand that Louis Vuitton represents today.

Tiffany and Co just got bought out by LVMH for 16 Billion dollars! Did you hear about that? I guess the CEO, Bernard Arnault thought it was a good investment! Maybe there are some Louis Vuitton branded Tiffany items in our future? Seems cool to me!
