Sparkle up this upcoming holiday with your nails. I think if you want the holiday look you should stick to colors like red, white, silver, green, and even baby blue. Now you can even add a bit of shine to these nails with some glitter nail polish. I stand by the motto “you can never have too much glitter.” So before you start adding colors and glitter galore you have to prep them.
The prep isn’t as intense as it seems, the basic steps would be shaping your nails with a file, and to clean natural oils from your nails with rubbing alcohol, if you have it. The rubbing alcohol isn’t a make it or break it step so if you don’t have it on you, it’s no biggie. Next would be applying a base coat. A base coat helps create an even coat so any ridges in your nail won’t upset the color.
When it comes to applying the color, it is always suggested that you apply thin layers of polish so it doesn’t clump. If you find that it takes forever and you keep bumping your hands, chipping the nail polish you could always get a bowl of ice water and set your hands in it for at least 3-5 minutes. The cold water makes the nail polish dry quicker. Weird, but it does work. Finally, apply that top coat so you don’t get any chips! And the best secret I learned for perfect nails is to apply a top coat every other day.
Now in between these steps you could always add a glitter topcoat, or apply a cute decal to your nails. Whatever floats your boat and makes you happy!
Until next time,
Love,
Lola
