The Quilted Chanel Bag
Did you know the iconic Chanel bag has been around since 1955? Long time for sure, and it is still perceived as the epitome of luxury and class. However, now more than ever we see a lot of knock offs of this bag, which begs the questions how do we tell the difference between a knock off and the real deal?
There’s a couple of factors that you should look for:
- Chanel bags are either made in France or Italy. They will not say "made in Paris".
- And the right C must always overlap on top and the left C must always overlap on the bottom.
In this drawing tutorial we are going to draw an authentic quilted Chanel Bag with a Double CC Lock, which actually didn’t debut until the 80s! Now, that you have a general idea of the bag, and learned a couple tidbits of facts. It’s time to get sketching!
Step 1: Lightly draw the outline of the Chanel Bag starting with the top flap and then the bottom of the bag
Step 1
Step 2: Lightly draw a rounded square so that it touches the top flap, but is in the bottom bag. This area is where we will draw the Chanel C’s and they will overlap in the middle
Step 2
Step 3: This is where we will start drawing the Chanel quilted fabric. Draw thin lines from the left to the right in a diagonal. Draw at least 8-9 lines.
Step 3
Step 4: Now for the next set of lines, start from the right to draw the diagonal line and it will end at the left. This will create the crisscross shape.
Step 4
Step 5: Now for the lock of the bag! For the lock of the bag it will be located right in the middle of the rounded square. First, draw one oval horizontally, and then another behind it vertically with only two curved lines showing at the top and bottom.
Step 5
Step 6: The last step is drawing the Chanel C’s! This step is very important because this is where a Chanel bag is seen as authentic or fake. Make sure that the right C’s top is overlapped and the left C is overlapping at the bottom.
Step 6
Finished!
Congrats! You just made your very own Chanel Quilted Bag. You can finish it up by coloring it, leaving it the way it is and just going over it with pen. If you have any questions or completed the bag , comment below! I would love to chat. 🙂
