When I first encountered the book I was in Target. Which is pretty much my second home. I read the title and thought it was eye-catching and the title was straight to the point, but I didn’t buy it. Mostly because I have another self-help book, and I figured one should be enough. I came across the book a second time, on Instagram. This time someone had bought the book and talked about their experience with it. Not the I-am-writing-this-because-I’m-getting-paid-on-Instagram deal. It was genuine, real and moved me to go back to my second home and buy it. So shout-out to the random Instagram user who persuaded me to buy this book, I have to say I love it.
You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero is the nitty-gritty on why you should stop living in the past, doubting every move you make, and just live out the life you want to! Within reason of course. It’s not like you read it and all of a sudden your lifestyle changes and you’re lounging in Mykonos, Greece. But, if you are, kudos. This book lays out how to make simple changes in your life, which you would never think of, to eventually make gradual changes to your lifestyle by being a better person. Personally, I overthink everything. I overthink what I say, what I do, and even what I type on this blog! I am a confident person, and I adore who I am, it’s just I get into those bad habits of just over analyzing. Which is something I am working on every day, it can be challenging, but I know the results are going to be worth it. This book has helped me with those small issues that I have.
The book’s table of contents is divided into five parts. The first part begins with speaking on what are the things about yourself that drive you crazy; the constant fear of what people think, failing at something, etc. The second part dives into embracing who you are, the whole shebang, imperfections and all. The third part is how to face what you are dealing with head on. No excuses, no holding back and just doing what you have to do to get over the bumps in the road. Fourth, is the results that will follow, and the fifth part ends with the summary of the whole book and tying up loose ends. Now, this is just a gist of what this book really has. There are so many other great points that are made from dealing with friends, regret, and money.
I recommend this to anyone who wants a realistic point of view for a self-help book. No fluff, just the truth on how to start living your best life. I bought mine from Target, but you can find it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Walmart as well.
I hope you enjoyed this and stay tuned for Monday for the next post
Until then,
