Wearing colors is always deemed as a bold fashion choice. There are so many factors that go into making it look good; are the colors matching? are they too bright? Orange is a lively color that can be paired well with grey, navy or white. It’s a color that induces excitement. Depending on the shade of orange, blue is a great color to complement it.
Complementing Your Skin and Wardrobe
If you have cool undertones: avoid warm oranges, colors like salmon are better than bright shades of orange. The best option is finding shades of oranges with shades of blue or purple.
Warm undertones look best with bronzes and golden oranges. For warm undertones oranges similar to coral and tangerine compliment the skin. Finding pink or yellow undertones is the best to suit warm undertones.
The Best Pairings
The complementary color of orange is blue which makes the two go really well without being too jarring. Depending on the shade of orange, not every blue is going to go perfectly with it. Meaning if you are wearing a pale orange, cobalt won’t pair well as a paler blue would. The key is to get it so the shade and hue are perfect for the specific color you are wearing.
Other types of pairings are analogous, triadic, tonal or monochromatic looks.
Tonal(Shades) colors are different shades of the same color. An example of this would be an outfit with a top that’s light orange and the pants are dark orange.
Analogous colors are colors that are close to one another on a color wheel. For an orange analogous look, it would consist of yellow-orange, orange, red-orange and then red.
Triadic colors are compromised of three colors that are evenly spaced on the color wheel. For an orange triadic look, the colors would orange, purple and green.
Complementary colors are colors that are directly opposite to each other. As mentioned before, blue complements orange
